Exterior Security Lighting

February 24th, 2011 No comments

It is quite natural that we all want to keep our homes and businesses safe and well looked after, but there are many ways in which this can be accomplished. The cheapest and most cost effective way is exterior security lighting

It truly is a no brainer, bad lighting can make a home or business a much more appealing object than the house next door because it has less satisfactory exterior security lighting. Prowlers look for dimly lit points of entry into premises that seem to contain riches, so when you are designing the security system for your home or business you should try to think like a thief.

Look at your buildings from the outside, or look at someone else’s first and ask yourself, how you would get in there if you had to. Pretend that you forgot your keys or that there is a serious problem in your property. How would you get in? This is where chummy gets in and you must find out how to obstruct his every move.

Ten years ago, I lived in a bungalow alone with my small, knee-high dog and armed robbers hit me in my home, despite the fact that I had a decent home security system. Do not let it happen to you. My blunder was that I had insufficient exterior security lighting.

They had cut my phone line during the day and because I used a cell phone for most of my calls, I did not realize. Also my dog was sick, but I did not realize that she had been poisoned too. At eleven o’clock at night there was a knock on the front door and I opened it, thinking that it was a neighbour in distress.

A man charged in and over-powered me and the rest was not nice. However, the whole regrettable issue could have been avoided, if I had thought like them..

I was in the habit of drawing the curtains when I got home, so I did not see that they had removed the lamps from my exterior security lighting too.

My advice is to check your exterior security lighting every night when you get home and keep the bushes or shrubs cut low around your front and back doors. Make sure that your exterior security lighting is working every evening and make sure that you can see who is ringing your door bell.

Provide your garden and your doors with plenty of light. Let them be on motion sensors and check who is at your door from a side window that looks out onto your front door. I had a gorgeous frosted glass pane in my front door, but that is no use. I could not recognize anyone through it.

Have a panic button fitted by your doors, a big one, so that if you are surprised you can swipe out and still hit it and above all make your next door neighbours aware that if your external siren sounds, that you are in trouble and that you need assistance immediately. If you are not in trouble, you can always say sorry later.

Garden Deck Or Patio Layout

February 24th, 2011 No comments

After you have finished buying in your garden patio furniture and you have set it out as you like, it is time to park yourself in one of your new patio chairs with one of your favourite drinks and maybe a pen and paper, and take stock of the state of affairs.

Is your garden patio a little congested or do you have loads of room? Are there other things you would like to have out there? How about plants? Do you have enough plants and bushes – eye candy? Will you be using it only in the daytime or in the evening or even at night too? Will you need lighting, for example?

This is where your own personal stylishness can be added to your shop bought furniture to make the patio truly your patio. So, if you live in a house that only has a small garden, you might want to think about things that hang rather than things that must be sited on the ground, which will take up walking space.

If you do not have much space, but you want to grow plants with edible fruit such as strawberries or tomatoes, you could get some hanging baskets. You can hang them from bushes or standard lamps or fix them to a boring wall. In the same way, you could grow herbs or other small flowers in a window box which has been fixed to a wall or placed on top of it. Or put shelving up and put boxes and pots on that.

If your patio is too sunny, you could grow sunflowers or put up a trellis or an arbour and grow vines or clematis up it. Bamboo grows fast too. If it is too shaded, plant lots of bright yellow and white flowers and maybe paint the walls white or pink, if you are not keen on glare.

If your garden patio is a much larger, you could add garden accessories in order to further your enjoyment. For instance, you could construct a barbecue area out of stone slabs or bricks. You could add a fountain too. A fountain makes the very soothing sound of running and splashing water and fish are a delight to watch.

For the colder months, you could build a fireplace, if local bylaws permit or get a patio heater. They are very efficient and can keep a fair radius warm, depending on the ambient temperature.

You will probably need some form of lighting as well, if you plan on spending some evenings on your patio. I suggest a few spotlights to highlight your favourite plants and the fountain and a broader beam light that you can read by. Do not put these lights near where you mean to sit because they will be a magnet for flying insects. However, they make a good distraction from you and will keep all but the blood sucking insects away.

For parasites such as mosquitoes, you should get some form of mosquito trap. Some are very good and promise to keep a quarter or even half an acre clear of mosquitoes and other such nuisances.

For all these extra accessories you will need power points. Therefore, if you plan your garden with pen and paper like I mentioned at the beginning of this article, then you will be able to show the electrician where you want the points and what-not in your new garden patio layout.

Home Security Tips – How To Make Your Home Unappealing To Burglars

February 24th, 2011 No comments

These days everybody is concerned about the security of their homes and justly so! According to official American government statistics, the quantity of house burglaries has risen by almost ten percent in the last five years to about fourteen million per annum.

That is a lot of homes. I was burgled ten years ago and I have studied and done my best to never be one of those statistics again. In this piece, I will pass on some of my home security tips on how to make your home unappealing to thieves.

The first thing to think about is whether you have anything in your garden, shed or garage that will help a thief get into your house. Things like ladders, crow-bars, screwdrivers, sledge hammers. If you do, then lock them away. Keep the shed and garage doors locked at all times. If you have a ladder that will not fit in the shed or garage, chain and padlock it to a brick wall, so that nobody can use it to get in.

Never believe that your home is less at risk just because you or someone else is inside it. Some burglars are crazy and it is easier to ask someone where the money is than to try to find it yourself. It is easier to demand the keys to the safe than to break the lock. I know. thieves came into my house while I was at work. They saw my safe, but could not get into it, so they came back three nights later when I was at home. It was truly not pleasant.

Do not put a spare front or back door key under the mat, a flower vase or near-by rock. Thieves expect people to do that and it is the first place they look. If you are thinking about leaving a key with a neighbour, choose your neighbour carefully. In fact choose the family well. Does the family have teenage kids? If so, could their friends learn that that ‘spare key’ is to your house? Do you trust all the friends of that neighbour’s kids? Do you even know them?

Beware of strangers. I do not mean be fearful, but someone needing to make an urgent call because of a ‘breakdown’, could be casing your house or sizing you up. If you want to help, make the call for them or direct them to the nearest public telephone booth or a shop.

Keep all your doors and windows locked. If reasonable locked shut, when you are away from the house, but you can get window-stay locks so that you can lock a fanlight window ajar a few inches too. This is very useful in the summer or if you have pets. Lock upstairs windows too – your neighbour may have a loose ladder that a thief can make use of.

Do not display your valuables unnecessarily. Video recorders, DVD players and even the TV can be put in cabinets. Jewellery should be put in a box or a safe. Cash the same. Your house is a home, not a presentation case to would be criminals.

My last home security tip to make your home unappealing to thieves is to stay alert and to advise your neighbours of any slip-ups they are making too. If you can raise the general perception of crime in the people around you, everyone will be a lot more secure.

Search Engines Like Google Do Not Buy Products Consumers Do

February 24th, 2011 No comments

To offer your services and products on the web, you will need targeted prospects. Search Engines can begin sending you targeted visitors, and a lot of it, if you’re taking selected strategies.

The 1st step within your search engine marketing plan is not really search engine optimization. The first thing is to understand the online world and the way to successfully use it to advertise your goods and services.

The net can be described as a content material driven medium. Searchers are searching for information and facts. These online users don’t wish to be marketed to. They want worth. You’ll be able to provide this kind of value through the subject material you write on your website, as well as the subject material you’re posting for your marketing.

As a result, it is advisable to develop a comprehensive, subject material management technique. Your own content material management technique should be consumer focused, content powered, and also enhanced for the search engines.

Your own subject material managing technique must evaluate both on page as well as off page seo points. On page aspects consist of optimizing your page with regard to keywords strongly related to your site, titles, as well as web page descriptions. Off page points include things like link exchanges and also link building.

Once you’ve chosen the subject for your site, you’ll want to develop your site. Come to a decision on just what subject material you will prepare. Your websites content material have to include things like content pieces, press releases, in addition to product or service reviews. It’s also possible to produce totally free information products, reports as well as newsletters, but make sure the details you incorporate is going to be helpful to your site customer.

Ahead of working on your subject material, you have to do your investigation. Uncover what your readers are searching for. There are many free programs as well as software available on the web that will help you accomplish this task. Simply, do a search in the search engines for a keyword phrase similar to “keyword and key phrase recommendation tools”.

The moment you’re ready to compose your sites subject material, pick out two or three keywords and phrases to work with all the way through the particular text for your web page. Create your own content material and then enhance your website with regard to these key phrases.

Although on page optimization will benefit you when you do not have a lot of competition for your keywords you selected, it is not adequate if you are focusing on large competition keywords. To raise your websites search positions, you have got to get a link from high traffic Internet sites together with high page rank. Setting up backlinks coming from various other sites can even help you increase your website rankings.

Try a search within your favorite search engine in order to come across web pages you’ll be able to link to. Study these websites. Check to see precisely what key phrases they used to enhance their pages. Find out if these sites trade hyperlinks, and if that’s the case, ask for a web link trade.

The secret weapon to success in search engine marketing tactics is always to do your homework before you start to generate your website. The final point here is that no matter the number of one way links you may have aiming back to your web page, or even how well you enhance your page for the major search engines, you won’t rank high for keywords and phrases which might be way too competitive without having a lot of time and also a lot of effort put in, it could even take upwards to a couple of years.

You must also be aware that you won’t reach your goals in any kind of business that you aren’t going to be passionate about. Choose a topic you like, which has a marketplace and then develop a content rich, search engine friendly web page. Work on getting your name out there and make sure you keep marketing your merchandise. You certainly will be successful in the long haul.

Many individuals already know the importance of employing a Search Engine Submission and link building service, for those of you who do not understand why this is essential you can find 2 video clips which describe the incredible importance of these types of techniques at our website. Welsh Music

February 23rd, 2011 No comments

Wales has a long history of music and has been called the ‘land of song’ since at least the Nineteenth Century. This reference to Wales as the land of song, almost certainly comes from the enthusiastic singing in Welsh churches and at Welsh sports meetings, especially at rugby matches. However, Wales’ links with music go much further back than that.

Wales has a tradition of folk music which is closely associated with Scottish and Irish folk music. There are a number of forms of musical gathering that resemble those in other Celtic countries in the United Kingdom. For instance there is the twmpath (folk dance session), g?yl werin (folk festival) and noson lawen (a traditional party comparable to the Gaelic “C?ilidh”).

Modern Welsh folk musicians have often resurrected traditions which had been suppressed or forgotten, and have competed with imported and indigenous rock and pop trends. This has been especially true since the 1990′s.

Despite modern Welsh trends in music, Wales will always be connected with Male Voice Choirs such as the Morriston Orpheus Choir and Treorchy Male Voice Choir which benefit from world wide fame.

These choirs were frequently made up of workers from one village or one coal mine and so it was quite natural for men to sing when one town played against another, especially if that game was Wales’ national sport of rugby. The first time the Welsh National Anthem, ‘Yr Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau’ (‘The Old Country of my Fathers’, normally translated as ‘Land of My Fathers’), was sung at an International sporting event was in 1905

Along side the choirs, brass bands developed in villages, working men’s associations, churches and at work particularly in South Wales where brass bands are still very popular. In fact, the Cory Band is one of the most successful brass bands in the world.

There were quite a few world renowned Welsh singers in the Twentieth Century and some of them are still singing to jam-packed audiences worldwide. Ivor Novello was one of the first who became well-known during the First World War as a singer songwriter. Then there was Geraint Evans and Delme Bryn-Jones during the Second World War.

After that, Tom Jones and Shirley Bassey started their singing careers in the 1950′s and are still singing fifty years later. There were also popular bands in the Seventies and Eighties such as Man and Budgie and solo singers such as Shakin’ Stevens, nnie Tyler and John Cale (Velvet Underground).

In more recent times, we have seen the Manic Street Preachers, Catatonia, Super Furry Animals and Gorky’s Zygotic Mynci; the latter two bands being famous for lots of their songs’ lyrics being in Welsh.

There have always been operatic singers as well such as Rebecca Evans, Aled Jones, Bryn Tervel and Charlotte Church. Cardiff hosts the ‘Singer of the World’ competition and the Wales also has its very own Eisteddfod, where Pavarotti sang for years. It was because of Wales tradition as a nation of singers that Paul Robeson sang in Wales in the Fifties

Cruise Around Like A Los Angeles Celeb In The Sleek Lincoln Navigator

February 23rd, 2011 No comments

Back in the eighties it was common to see celebs chauffeured around in limo’s, however limo’s are seriously outdated now. It’s 2011 and most of today’s stars prefer driving themselves around in luxury SUV’s. One of the more popular SUV’s among Los Angeles stars is the Navigator by Lincoln. Celebs seen hitting the town in this ride include Los Angeles Lakers legend Magic Johnson, actress Halle Berry and soccer player David Beckham.

Celebrities like to have plenty of room after a hard day of work and the Navigator is a shining star due to its roominess and large amount of cargo space. The third row of seating is especially spacious with enough room for full sized adults; something that is actually rare for its class. A really sweet extra is the Sync system from Ford Motor Company which enables the driver to control Bluetooth, navigation and the radio and cd player by giving out voice commands. Opt for the DVD system and you get two separate screens that can play a different movie simultaneously. Cargo space is at 18.1 cubic feet but if you fold the third row down space is maximized to a huge 103 cubic feet. If you are looking for the new Navigator in Los Angeles, check out Los Angeles Lincoln for great deals.

This ride isn’t just about sweet features, now we’re getting to the most important part; good looks. The Navigator definitely does not disappoint in that aspect; there are plenty of chrome accents throughout and features a show stopping grille with the Lincoln badge. Smooth as butter is one way to describe the ride quality and power is intense thanks to an eight cylinder 5.4 Liter engine with 310 hp and 365 lb feet of torque. Handling is very competent despite its massive size and the cabin is well insulated from exterior noise. The suspension is tight while steering feels accurate and precise.

Comprehensive safety precautions include advanced air bag protection, SOS Post Crash Alert System, Advance Trac with Roll Stability Control and Ford’s Mykey system which will come in handy for parents with teenage children. MyKey allows parents to control the speed and stereo volume when their teens are driving. A rearview camera is also standard which should make backing up and parking into a tight spot much easier. The 2010 model fared quite well during safety crash tests, the NHTSA issued it an impressive five stars for frontal and side protection during impact.

The Lincoln Navigator provides style, a vast array of features and top of the line safety features. If you are in the market for a luxury SUV then this vehicle would definitely be one of the prime choices to consider. The 2011 Navigator is priced in the $54k range.

Home Decor On The Cheap

February 23rd, 2011 No comments

If you’re redecorating your home, naturally you’ll want only the best. However, often you’ll find that the best comes with an expensive price tag attached to it as well. Unfortunately, many of us can’t afford to splash out on the finer things in life, especially if we’re redecorating our homes.

That’s where the many discount home decor stores will come to your rescue. In these stores, you’ll find that you can sometimes witness a miracle and find that you can actually get those finer things at a fantastic discount.

Some of the best discount home decor is to be found in your local department stores. They’re probably the last places you’d think of looking for discounts but if you get the timing right, seasonal sales in other stores will drive the prices down to match discount store prices. It doesn’t get better than that, especially if you don’t really want to spend hours going around looking for discount stores or warehouses.

Which brings us, naturally enough, to our next discount home decor shops – discount warehouses. In these you’re presented with a wide selection from which you can buy your discount home decor and fittings. These large warehouse stores are ideal if you’re happy spending the time browsing a little bit.

Be advised though, that if you buy from these discount warehouses, you’re just as likely to see your perfect wall-hanging in your neighbors house as well. You should also go prepared to keep a tight grasp on your wallet as some of the items will simply call out to you and never let you go. In this case, you’ll find your new discount home decor items have multiplied substantially more in number than what you originally went in the warehouse to buy.

Another good option, and one which I constantly use, is the Internet discount stores. Just typing in the words Discount Home decor into any Internet search engine will yield such a magnitude of results that you might even become inundated.

The best way to go about this is just to look through a few of the returned stores and find one that you like. As you progress, you can always delete many of them and find ones that better suit your needs more exactly.

The Internet option is also good, if you decide to look through your local department store’s Internet website as well. Often, you’ll find a variety of items at discount store prices that you wouldn’t see in the store itself.

Delivery of your discount home decor items purchased over the Internet is also usually very low or sometimes even free, if you spend over a certain amount.

Any or all of these methods is a great way to begin your redecorating project and you’ll find that, with only a little effort and thought on your part, you will be able to find discount home decor items that will not only suit your budget but which will also suit your home, and ultimately, that’s all that really matters, isn’t it?

Shower Curtains In Fabric

February 23rd, 2011 No comments

So, one day, fabric shower curtains went the way of the dodo and glass shower doors became fashionable. But, like most fads, common sense resurfaced and the fashions that once were, have come back as they do. You’ll now find that fabric shower curtains are all the rage once again and are easily available from most stylish home decor stores.

However, don’t throw out your old glass doors just yet. The convenience and smart look of the glass doors seem to be firmly entrenched with some people. Adherents of glass doors will swear by these and will even sometimes be ready to lay down their reputations for them.

You’ll find, when discussing fabric shower curtains, that their owners are laid back and will smile when asked about their preferences. Naturally, they’ll defend their fabric shower curtains but they also admit to seeing the advantages of glass shower doors as well. No dripping from the bottom of the curtain, no constantly damp curtain folds that need to be separated out each morning in order to prevent mildew.

Most convenient of all, is the easy cleaning granted by glass shower doors. However, as the fans of fabric shower curtains will also tell you, glass doors have their downsides too, the biggest of which being that if you permit the cleaning of the doors to go for even one week, stains will begin to form along the sides where they’re fixed to the wall and some of these seem to have a much stronger will than you do.

And if you don’t give the glass shower doors a regular wipe-down, your otherwise nice clean bathroom will start to look rather grubby. The reason though why fabric shower curtains are an all time favourite of many people in the know, is for only one reason and one reason only. This is also what leads these people to have a smug smile on their faces even after they’ve just spent the last half hour cleaning their bathroom. Fabric shower curtains are disposable and so can be changed quickly.

Yes, that’s the one whopping big reason why fabric shower curtains are still a firm favourite with a lot of people. Have you ever tried replacing your glass doors on a regular basis? It just won’t happen and its doubtful if it will ever happen for a few years, unless that is you take a hammer to it.

So, now you know the reason for that mysterious smile and why fabric shower curtains never really went out of style. Convenience, more convenience and still more convenience. So if you’re considering of changing from your glass shower doors to the more convenient, disposable fabric shower curtains don’t be put off.

Once you remove those doors, your life is bound to become easier, and if it’s not, just change one set of fabric shower curtains for new ones. If nothing else it’ll make you feel a bit better!

Make Sure Your Tires Have Plenty Of Tread

February 23rd, 2011 No comments

A shocking 1 out of 9 cars on the roads is driving on at least one worn out tire. Bald tires are extremely dangerous and could potentially cause deadly accidents. Driving with bare tires is considered illegal in certain states. Bald tires are dangerous to everyone on the road.

A car that is out of alignment can lead to uneven wear on the tires. It is also vital to have tires frequently rotated in order to make sure that they wear evenly and it is recommended to have tire pressure checked out from time to time. Rainy days can be extremely dangerous when you are driving on bald tires because the channels aren’t deep enough in order to siphon the water out and this can lead to hydroplaning which is very dangerous. During hydroplaning the tires loose traction and the car no longer responds to the steering wheel or brakes. If your car does hydroplane, the safest thing to do is to remove your feet from the gas pedal in order to gain control.

You can deduce if you need new tires is by inserting a penny into the grooves of your tire at the lowest point. If Abraham Lincoln’s head is covered by the tire tread then your tires are good but if the tread does not cover Abraham Lincoln’s head then that means that the tires need to be replaced. Another convenient way to tell if you need new tires is by sticking a tread-depth gauge into the grooves and observing how much tread there is left.

The pressure of your tires can be checked by utilizing a tire pressure gauge. Certain gas stations may also have tire pressure gauges available. The correct tire pressure for your car should be specified in the car manual.

Tires are extremely important when it comes to driving safety because the entire foundation of your vehicle rests on your tires. So make sure your tires aren’t worn out before you go out on the road.
